According to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, RV ownership in America is at record levels. The national trade association reports that more than 9 million U.S. households own an RV — the highest level ever. Granted, recreational vehicles give travelers the freedom to head out on the open road without the need to find a hotel for the night. But for some folks, staying in a campground with a bunch of other RV owners is a little too close for comfort — perhaps too much like remaining at home, or staying with relatives. So for those deep-pocketed adventurous types, we present RV options that can leave the pavement behind, letting a select few venture off the beaten path as far from civilization as they like, while still enjoying a comfortable place to eat and a soft bed in which to sleep. Behold these outrageous RVs for leaving it all behind — while simultaneously taking it all along.
Mad Max style camping!
